OUR EARTH CONNECTION

I have always been in love with our planet.

As a child, I would climb the trees in my backyard while talking to the tree spirits -and, yes, everyone thought I was weird, but you know what? I can’t remember lots about my childhood… but I do recall nearly every tree and where each one stood. There was the weeping willow in the very back corner where I hid under its canopy; the peeling birch grew out front, covered with a white bark that fascinated me; the two dogwoods we gifted my mom on Mother’s Day, were planted side by side and grew from tiny sticks into flowering beauties. Many years later a different set of trees would comfort me after my mother died. Deep in grief, I'd collapse onto the grass and stare up at the stars, finding solace in the familiar scent of pine trees and junipers.

Our planet Earth is a great healer.

The “Earth” = Our “Heart”

This is why we feel so good when we are out in nature! When we connect with the Earth we are connecting with our heart. She is the creator of us all, the Great Mother, Gaia. Without her, nothing would exist!

She is here for you whenever you need… a low-cost prescription for your ailments. Struggling with anxiety? Earth.

Depression? Earth.

Can’t sleep? Earth.

Can’t take all the social media noise? Earth.

Mother Earth is a great listener. She takes in our pain and transmutes it. She carries our tears in her oceans, our sweat in her soil. Through this intimate connection, our joy is her joy, our healing is her healing.

When we take time to honor her and listen in return, we are listening to our own hearts.

In the loudness of your day to day, what are you not hearing? What are you not willing to hear?

Sit quietly outside and you can feel her breathe with you. There is a rhythm we seem to have lost as she calls us back to ourselves.

Recently, I was at the beach doing this very thing - listening. And as I sat staring out at the the ocean, my eyes blinded by the sun as it sparkled brightly across the waves, I felt overwhelmed at the beauty of it all. The sand, the dunes, the cool ocean air... it hit me.

WE ARE CARRIED.

Each and every day, billions of us, are carried in the magnificent web of our great Mother’s love for us.

We are loved and cared for and blessed in infinite ways. The sheer fact that so many things go right each day… and we spend so much time looking at all that is going wrong – it blew me away!

Get off your phone right now. Get away from reading this post, lol!! – and go out there, take a minute to thank the Earth for all of the ways she has nurtured and sustained you. That is the real climate change we are yearning for… a change in the way we see things… a change in our internal climate. Allow her to heal you and open up to the heartfelt unified field we are all desiring to experience.

Earth is our heart, the great unifier, the mother we all share.

What a great gift she is.
