PLANTING SEEDS

Today is my older daughter, Molly’s, 24th birthday. I woke up to a chilly, sundrenched morning and thought about how grateful I am for her, for the gift of her reaching this birthday milestone and for the blessing of being her mother.
The precious moments when we awaken are pivotal for setting the tone of the day. We are so programmed that often we just roll out of bed and go through the motions, shuffling around on autopilot. Our minds fill with all our concerns as we rush to get ready for work or school, and before we know it, worry and anxiety soon take hold.
Then we look at our phones… or turn on the TV. With the push of a button, we expose ourselves to horrific events that only add to the stress. (Unless you choose to look at cute puppies, lol!)
But seriously, I am feeling it along with you… this sense of overwhelm and confusion that leads you to ask - just what on Earth can I do about it all?
The seeds of change lie in your thoughts.
Outside, daffodils and tulips are peeking through the semi-frozen earth.
The sun graces us with its warmth as the days grow longer and brighter.
This year, while decluttering your house, finally getting to that “spring cleaning”, take some time to clean out your inner home as well.
Plant new seeds. New thoughts.
Afterall, how can you grow strawberries if you plant tomato seeds? And if you stay twisted up in the weeds, you’ll never notice the buds so elegantly blooming before your eyes.
Today, Molly’s birthday, was an ideal time for me to make this shift in thinking. It was easy to set the intention for a special day for her, and I allowed positive thought seeds to flow in with ease.
But, whether it’s a good day or bad one for you, try it out for a week… setting the seeds of your day in motion…
As you awaken and are not quite up, take a moment to simply be aware of your thoughts. Watch your mind and where it goes. What is coming up for you? Are you dwelling on all the bad things that you think may happen? If so, what new thought seeds would you like to plant instead?
The power to create your life is found in only one place - within you. Your mind is capable of imagining any number of possible scenarios – why not imagine something better?
When we expect good things, good things come to us.
WHAT WE FOCUS UPON GROWS!!!!
So, turn off the news and your devices and stop absorbing all that negativity. You are the gardener of your life… and the seeds you plant now will soon grow into something magnificent.
Happy Birthday Molly! The seed that was “you” grew into someone more special than I ever imagined.
Happy Spring!

Beautiful and inspiring always.
Thoughts are our seeds. Let’s get planting and growing. Xx
